Welcome to Paediatric Ortho
Paediatric Orthopaedics is one of the specialized division in orthopaedics surgery, that mainly deals with children orthopaedics issues.
Paediatric orthopaedic surgeon, is the one who had specialized training and expertise in management of musculo skeletal problems in neonates and children (from newborn to 18 years).
Paediatric orthopaedics disorders includes, congenital deformity of limbs, spine, developmental disorders that occur during growing age (Bow legs and knock knee), gait abnormalities, musculo skeletal infections, Nero muscular disorders (cerebral palsy arthrogryposis), Paediatric bone tumours and trauma.
Children’s musculo skeletal problems are different from adults. In Kids growth mainly occurs at growth plate, which lies between epiphysis and metaphysis of long bone. Injury to growth plate occurs in Epiphyseal injuries, infections. Improper management of these Epiphyseal issues leads to deformities and permanent disability. Early and aggressive management of neonatal septic arthritis, acute osteomyelitis prevents growth plate and joint damage.
Timely intervention of angular deformities with advanced technology (bow legs, knock knee , tibia vara) prevents complex surgeries and morbidity in children.
Paediatric orthopaedic team work in Nero muscular disorders (cerebral palsy, arthrogryposis) prevents permanent disability and aids in achieving “quality life style” in disabled kids.
Early recognisation of metabolic disorders and prompt treatment prevents angular deformity and surgical intervention.
